If you love fashion and setting the stage for glamorous celebration, then an editorial wedding style might suit you. I like to think of this as Old Hollywood meets modern day it girl. Confident, elegant, main character energy is the goal. My editorial wedding mood board offers some initial inspiration to help get your wedding planning juices flowing. After all, your wedding can and should be the one day when you get to feel like you’re living in the September issue of Vogue!
Some of the key elements for an editorial wedding aesthetic include an architecturally unique wedding venue, candid wedding photography inspired by fashion photoshoots, chic cocktails, and thoughtful details to make it your own. I would keep the general wedding color palette fairly neutral with a pop of a primary color, such as red or Klein blue.
Introduce some graphic elements such as checkers or stripes to create an interesting backdrop that will make your photos really pop. You’ll discover that many historic wedding venues actually have a checkered dance floor. Rental companies would also offer something similar. Changing out the venue drapes, if allowed, to a coordinating pattern is also a fairly low-cost and high impact detail.
Small details also help to establish an editorial wedding aesthetic. For invitations and other paper goods, take inspiration from vintage handwritten letters or luxury hotel stationery. You can find plenty of examples on Etsy or even at your local antique mall. For the drinks, you can add delicate ribbons or personalized charms to the cocktail glasses.
