Wedding content creation has become a new part of the wedding planning process and I’m here to help you create a stunning wedding camera roll. Do you want to capture all the beautiful and emotional details of your wedding day, but don’t want to spend the entire time on your phone? In the age of social media, you’ll definitely still want those candid videos and snaps of smaller details that escape the wedding photographer’s eye. As a wedding planner myself, I understand that capturing content is its own full time job. Here are my top 5 tips to help you capture your wedding content in effortless style.

1. Capture the planning process

Planning your wedding can be super overwhelming…you want it to be perfect! In the midst of all this chaos, I think a lot of brides forget to properly record their wedding planning journey. When it’s all said and done, you’ll be able to look back on all the excitement and frustration with sentimental eyes. The planning process is where you’ll find some genuinely heartfelt content that other brides will be able to relate to. Plus, you can offer helpful advice about vendors in your city, little wedding emergency tips, and much more. Other couples will find the candid wedding planning content relatable and maybe it will help them with their own plans. Educational content and helpful tips always perform well across social media platforms.

2. It’s all in the details

I say this a lot, but the little details really do make a wedding memorable. Since your photographer will capture all the grand and classic moments, you’ll want to find all the small moments that inspire you. Take inspiration from movies, like when a character checks their watch or the camera lingers on architectural details. Context creates the story. Did you happen to notice a pair of birds singing in a tree the morning of your wedding? Film them! All these little things from the day-of will become beautiful symbols commemorating the day.

3. Embrace your emotions

If you’re going to vlog the wedding day/days leading up to it, I suggest that you don’t try to hide your emotional state. You can talk to the camera about what you’re stressed and excited about. Treat it like a diary. Editing will come later, so just stay in the moment of your wedding day without worrying about how it looks from an outside perspective. In general, having more videos and photos to choose from increases the likelihood of creating something entertaining. Even if you don’t end up publicly sharing all the content, it’s nice to have it all for your personal memories.

4. Don’t stress about image quality

Similar to the advice above, don’t worry too much about the camera angles and resolution of your wedding content creation. That’s your wedding photographers job. Instead, just focus on capturing as many candid details as possible, from every angle. Remember your parents’ wedding videos that were taken by your uncle on a glitchy camcorder? Those videos are awesome and really capture the vibes on the dance floor. Even a blurry video taken in the morning at your honeymoon hotel will look like a Sofia Coppola movie because of the feeling behind it.

5. Ask a close friend to be your wedding content creator

We all have that one friend who’s naturally social and makes flawless content without disrupting the natural flow of events. Some people are just born documentarians! You can ask her to document the wedding day. She knows your preferred angles, what makes you laugh, and she won’t let you leave the bathroom with an eyelash out of place. Your trust will make all the videos and photos so much more intimate and honest.

Aesthetic Wedding Content Creation

I hope this post inspires you to let loose a little bit as you figure out your wedding content creation. Remember, you’re the director and the star, so anything goes. My main recommendation is more is always better when it comes to gathering videos and photos because you can always edit them down later. Just make sure to bring plenty of memory cards for the cameras. Your wedding day will go by fast, so a solid plan for content creation ensures that you’ll be able to revisit the memories for years to come!
